GNOC holds first consolation meeting

As the 20th edition of the annual May Day Sports is fast approaching, the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) held its first consolation meeting on Tuesday 23rd February 2010, at the Olympic House in Bakau ahead of the championship.

The meeting, which was attended by representatives from various institutions and companies, was meant to discuss the forthcoming May Day Sports Championship.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Executive Director of the Gambia National Olympic committee (GNOC), Mr. Lawrance Bruce, applauded institutions and companies for honouring their invitation, noting that the meeting was organised to discuss some of the problems that occur during the championship, and how to overcome them.

According to Bruce, the registration for this year's GNOC May Day Sports is pegged at D10, 000.

Noting that this year's May Day would be different from previous years, he said, they will embark on a series of sporting events, such as football, volleyball, wrestling for the first time in the history of May Day Sports and women's in sports march-past.

He disclosed that a series of consolation meetings will be held in March 9th, 23rd, April 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th respectively in order to discuss the success of the forthcoming May Sports.

The Executive Director of the Gambia Nation Olympic Committee (GNOC), George Gomez challenged all teams' managers to do all efforts to make sure they control their musical set so that things can go smooth during the event.

He pointed out that GNOC would do everything possible to ensure the success of the event.
