GIEPA staff call for reinstatement of dismissed CEO

Thursday, March 08, 2018

The staff of The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), have yesterday demanded that the dismissed chief executive officer (CEO) be reinstated.

Assan Faal has been fired but the circumstances surrounding his sacking could not be established.

The Point has been informed that his sacking had to do with negative comments he made against the government. “It is alleged that he was secretly recorded while making remarks against the government,” our source added.

The people familiar with Mr. Faal’s sacking said he had informed some of his staff about his dismissal before leaving the office.

“We don’t know where his dismissal letter comes from. But I am also informed that the letter came from the Personnel Management Office (PMO),” a person who was briefed about the issue said.

Meanwhile, the staff of the agency said they would not be going to work without Mr. Faal being reinstated. “We want Assan Faal back, if Assan goes; we are not going to work,” they said.

Our reporter who visited the office on Wednesday said some staff closed earlier than the normal official time.
