hospital, Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul has received a
donation of four fridges and one deep freezer worth 231, 000 dalasis from The
Gambia International Airline (GIA).
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Modou Lamin Jammeh, public relations officer of the Hospital said the donation of the materials was important and timely to them, saying they have only one properly functioning deep freezer.
He said GIA has been extending a helping hand to the hospital for a long time and they even once adopted the maternity unit of the hospital, which he said was very generous of them.
Abdoulie Trawally, GIA’s head of administration and human resource said they decided to support the hospital because it is the country’s biggest and referral hospital and government alone cannot do it all. “GIA has a strong and long standing relationship with the hospital that is why we deemed it necessary to donate these materials to them,” he said.
Aminata Ndure, GIA’s commercial director also said the donation serves as their part of contribution in complementing government efforts and their corporate social responsibility in nation building.
Malang Ndong, the hospital’s director of administration thanked GIA for their kind gesture, saying, “The hospital is short of deep freezers and there are few number of functioning fridges.”
