Football Federation (GFF) Organizing Committee on Friday deducted the maximum
three (3) points from Samger FC for featuring Haruna Sidibeh who was later
The Organising Committee’s decision opened way for Wallidan FC to be crowned champions of the GFF 1st Division League after beating Gunjur FC 2-1 in their final game of the league season.
The committee received the notice after East Bi FC filed a protest letter against Samger playing Haruna who they claimed was not legally registered in their books.
Samger featured player Haruna Sidibeh in their 1-1 draw game against SK East Bi FC played on January 26 at the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium. Haruna is legally believed to be in the books of SK East Bi FC.
In a confirmation posted on the GFF social media, it stated that the organising committee had forfeited Samger’s points in their game against SK East Bi in respect to the protest made against them for fielding an unqualified player in the name of Haruna Sidibeh.
According to the report, GFF organizing committee at its meeting had the opportunity to go through all the relevant records and made to understand and observed that that Haruna Sidibeh was a registered player of SK East Bi for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
It further stated that there is no trace of a transfer or clearance of the player from SK East Bi FC to Samger FC or to any other club, noting that the report further showed that no contract was been made between SK East Bi and player Haruna Sidibeh thus giving him the status of an unqualified player.
The GFF report however mentioned that, the player needed a clearance to move from SK East Bi FC to Samger FC and in the absence of that, Samger FC has therefore violated the player transfer Rule Article 5 (3).
The Organizing Committee revealed that its decision has been very clear on such issues, adding that player Haruna Sidebeh was not properly transferred to Samger FC and, as a result of the protest made by SK East Bi FC, has now awarded three (3) Points Two (2) Goals, thus nullifying the earlier drawn (1-1) match between the two (2) Clubs played on January 26th 2018, at the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium
Speaking to the Secretary General of Samger FC, Baboucarr Sey said that it was brought to their attention by the player that he (Haruna Sideibeh) did not legally sign any player license to play for East Bi FC in the 2016/17 season, while urging the investigators to investigate the authenticity of the player’s signature on the license submitted to their office by SK East Bi FC as the player himself had confirmed that the signature on the card was not his.
