are signs of more developments in women football in 2018, says GFF executive
member Jainaba Cham.
In an interview on Saturday with Journalist Alieu Ceesay , Cham said it is reassuring that there will be gains going by the GFF 2018 plans as revealed during the 2017 Annual General Meeting.
The GFF at its AGM disclosed that D4,300,000 was the budget for women football development in 2018.
Though the budget seems not to be enough, she is hopeful that a lot can be achieved this year.
With regards to the preparation for the African Women Championship to be hosted in Ghana, Jainaba Cham said the team was to start training yesterday (Sunday). “Hopefully we will have a test game in February.”
The Gambia U17 Female Team was eliminated in the second stage of the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers by Ghana. The Female Scorpions eliminated Sierra Leone in the first round and were hoping to make their second appearance in the U17 World Cup.
Cham said she was not disappointed that the team exited, attributing the performance to lack of experience. “We want to maintain this team.”
