Gambia Football Federation –GFF- Wednesday presented over 1.5 million dalasi to
1st and 2nd division male and female league clubs at a ceremony held at the
Football House in Kanifing to support the national league clubs in their
preparation for the ongoing leagues.
The Federation’s general secretary Lamin Jasseh thanked the football governing body’s executive for the laudable initiative, saying supporting clubs is very significant.
Mr. Jasseh said supporting the clubs would ease the financial burden on their management, noting that financing clubs in The Gambia is in the hands of few.
Jasseh emphasised that the main aim of the federation is to promote and develop football, which cannot be done without clubs and elite association input.
The Federation’s president Lamin Kaba Bajo said the disbursement was delayed due to the late accessing of the funding from FIFA, adding that at the moment, the Federation is hundred percent funded by FIFA except for the little income that they earn from gate takings during league games.
