GDC deputy leader, 7 others resign

Yusupha Jaiteh, the deputy party leader of the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has resigned with seven other members, The Point has confirmed.

The reason for their resignation could not be established at the time of gathering the report. However, all of them have tendered their resignation letters to the party executive members. They also thanked the GDC executive members for their support.

MC Cham, the GDC Youth Mobiliser has confirmed the development to our reporter. He said the resignation of the former GDC top brasses was not that they were dissatisfied with the party structures as it was not indicated in their resignation letters.

“They have tendered their resignation letters and they also thanked the party for their support during their time with the GDC and we also wish them good luck,” he said.

The other GDC former executive members who resigned included: Amie Njie Colley, former parliamentary candidate for Tallinding constituency, Anthony Tabal, member for Environmental Matters, Adama Manjang, national campaign manager; Lamin Demba, assistant logistics manager and chairman Kombo South; Seedy Gassama, regional chairman Kanifing Municipality; Borry Manneh, logistics committee member and Buba Jarju, Youth mobiliser, Kombo South;

It could be recalled that, Papa Njie Girigara, mayoral aspirant candidates for the Kanifing Municipality Council in the just concluded mayoral election has also resigned from the GDC party.
