GAMWORKS holds AGM

The Gambia Agency for the Management of Public Works (GAMWORKS) Wednesday held its 12 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its headquarters in Kanifing.

Speaking at the meeting, the Hon. Minister of Works and Construction, Bai Lamin Jobe, disclosed that he was first engaged as a consultant to create the agency in 1993 and thanked the management for keeping the agenda alive.

Ebrima Cham, director general of GAMWORKS, said he was pleased to report that during the period under review a number of important projects and contracts were satisfactorily completed and numerous achievements registered.

The Board of Directors has delegated the day to day management of GAMWORKS to the Director General, he divulged, adding that it was a privilege for him to report on the activities of the agency during 2015 and 2016 activities.

He disclosed that the sector of the report deals with the status of the various projects and delegated management contracts entrusted to GAMWORKS.

The various interactions and collaborative activities with their partners was dealt with in the section of the report, DG Cham stated.

Mr Cham said the main objective of GAMWORKS was to implement development projects, especially in the area of infrastructure.

 The agency’s interventions could be classified into two categories, and the first category was that the projects in their entirety are implemented by the agency on behalf of the Government of The Gambia and development partners.

Mustapha Nai, Chairman of GAMWORKS board of directors presented the annual report and financial statements for the year ending 31st December 2015 and 31st December 2016.

He said impressive results were registered in 2015 and 2016 with regards to the board carrying out its oversight functions, and management’s performance in implementing projects and delegated management contracts to the satisfaction of their clients and partners.
