Gamtel upsets Banjul Utd to keep league title defend aspirations

The 2017-2018 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) domestic division one league champions Gamtel Tuesday thumped Banjul United 2-0 in the week-fourteen fixture played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to keep their league title defend aspirations.

The telecommunication giants made a woeful start to the current league campaign after losing majority of their matches in the first round.

Coach Sulayman Kuyateh and his charges used the one week break to improve on their weakness and netted two goals against the Banjul-based club to clinch maximum points to maintain their league title defend hopes.

They will skirmish to win their remaining matches in the second round to retain their league crown.

The win earned Gamtel 20 points after fourteen league matches and two points behind table topper Wallidan with 22 points, who lost to Fortune 1-0 at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama.

BK Milan drew 1-1 with FF cup champions Gambia Armed Forces at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
