boys, Gamtel Tuesday held Club Sportif Constantine to a goalless draw in the
first leg of the Confederation of African Football (GAF) Champions League
preliminary round played in Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui, Constantine, Algeria.
The Gambian league champions started the game defending very well as the Algerian home team looking for ways to break the deadlock. Club Sportif Constantine dominated the entire game create some goal-scoring but were not able to found the back of the net on the Telecom side.
This is the first time that a Gambian club team played against a North African club team without conceding a goal away, while Gamtel FC are hope to be the first team to book places at the stages of the CAF Champions League tournament when they beat the Algerian club side in Banjul next week.
No Gambian team has ever qualified to the group stages of CAF competitions (Champions league or Confederation cup) but if both GAF and Gamtel FC wins their return leg match here at home, they will be the first Gambian club teams to ever book places to the CAF competitions.
