Forces and Hawks have been eliminated from the continent’s top and second tier
football club competitions after losing their preliminary ties recently.
League champions Gambia Armed Forces was eliminated from the CAF champions’ league after losing to Zambian side Zanaco FC 6-1 on aggregate in the preliminaries. The Soldiers lost to the Zambian side 3-0 in the first leg in Lusaka, before losing to them 3-1 in the second leg in Banjul over the weekend.
FF cup champions Hawks were also eliminated from the CAF Confederations cup following their 3-2 aggregate defeat to Nigerian side Akwa United.
The Red Devils defeated Nigerian side 2-1 in the first leg in Uyo before losing to them 2-0 in the second leg in Banjul last week.
