young Gambian author who was in exile in Senegal during former president Yahya
Jammeh’s regime will be launching his new book “Hakilo” which he said would be
supported by the European Union funded Youth Empowerment Project (YEP).
Yusupha Jaiteh told journalists at a recent press briefing at his Manjaikunda residence that “Hakilo” meaning sense is meant to help African young people to take responsibilities and forget the irregular migration mentality; thus stay home and develop their countries. “The book assumes that I am talking to sensible people because it talked about knowledge.”
Mr. Jaiteh said when knowledge is revealed, everyone including the uneducated persons benefit from it particularly in the situation where the uneducated person exudes wisdom than the educated person. “So whoever read this book or hears about it, whether the individual has knowledge or not can use its sense to draw knowledge from it.”
