swimming team of two athletes and a coach have arrived in Algeria for the 13th
CANA Swimming and Open Water Championship.
Athletes Omar Darboe and Jegan Jobe arrived in the North African desert nation with their coach Noel Ndachi.
The Championships will gather Africa’s fastest swimmers for a seven-day top-level showdown in a 50-metre pool.
The championship is geared towards preparing the athletes for the forthcoming FINA World Championship and the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
This will mark Gambia’s first appearance at such CANA continental event. Gambia has only competed at the Zonal level with its first appearance in 2011 at the 4th edition of the Zone 2 African swimming championship held in Dakar.
