Gambia local-based players have started their intensive training at the Independence Stadium in Bakau prior to their crunch 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at home to Algeria next month.

New Tom Saintfiet is currently training with his local-based players who are playing their trades in the country’s domestic league before the arrival of foreign based players.

The Scorpions is occupying bottom place in group D of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with zero point after losing away to Benin 1-0 in the opening match of the qualifiers last June.

They needed to beat Algeria next month in Banjul to fancy their chances of making their debut in the Continent’s biggest football festivity.

Algeria and Benin are currently topping group D with maximum 3 points each after Togo and The Gambia in the opening match of the qualifiers.

The Desert Foxes will challenge to beat The Gambia to maintain their hundred percent record in the qualifiers.
