international defender Bubacarr Sanneh and his FC Midtjylland side were Monday
crowned champions of the 2017/18 Danish super liga after finishing 1st position
with 85 points.
The 23-year-old international guided the club to their second title in history, their first being in 2015 after playing 36 matches and won 27, drew 4 and lost 5 games this season.
Sanneh is also the highest scoring defender of the 2017/18 Danish championship with 7 goals and the famous one was the winning goal he scored with a fine header against the runners up Brøndby IF.
Speaking to The Point Newspaper, Sanneh expressed happiness for his side’s championship; calling it a dream comes true. “I won something before but that was a shield when I got promoted to the Superliga with AC Horsens in the 2015/16 season when we finished third but the feeling of winning the highest prize in Danish football is a dream that came through for me.”
According to him, he has been winning titles back in the Gambia with Real de Banjul when he was the team captain for several season, adding that he knew he was going to win a league as a professional but did not expect it to come this fast, more so in less than six months after moving to FC Midtjylland.
“But I and my teammates kept our dreams alive by pushing and giving it our all in the games and I am happy our hard work paid off.” He thanked the Midtjylland fans for their support throughout the season and those in The Gambia.
