Gambian in UK to pay tribute to former President

The family of Gambia’s former President Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara who recently passed away and The Gambian Embassy and The Gambian community in the United Kingdom are preparing to conduct prayers and tribute for the country’s fallen first president.

The prayers will on Sept.15 2019 at Aston-Mansfield Durning hall, London and supported by Inter-Face Gambia TV/ Youth club.

Imam Muhammad Gassama in the UK said the former president served the nation and the international community for nearly three decades. He said Islamic wise, paying tributes is recommended for the dead.

He said the intention of gathering is to remind every Gambian that the president did his utmost best and delivered immense gesture in the service of his country “but no man is perfect. Any prayer which is made on his behalf Allah SWT will accept and forgive the departed soul,” he said.

He said they owed it to him as the Gambian community in the UK to gather and pray for him.
