Gambia international goalkeeper Sam Jammeh has been nominated for Swedish best
goalkeeper award after his terrific performance in the country’s second tier.
The net-minder and stopper has been named in a three-man shortlist announced by
Division 2 side Norra Götal on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old’s nomination followed a hugely impressive season in the Swedish fourth-tier where he bagged eight clean sheets in 24 league appearances for IK Gauthiod, guiding them to third place on the standings with two games to go.
Jammeh told The Pointsports that he was glad to be nominated for the best keeper award in Sweden.
The Scorpions hopeful will bag 15,000 Krona if he wins the award and his club will receive 10,000 Krona. The Finland-born joined IK Gauthiod from fourth-tier rival Säffle FF earlier this season. His brilliant performance has earned him ten clean sheets despite the team’s failure to gain promotion to division one.
