Gambia Volleyball Federation has appointed Alhagie “Nature” Ceesay as its new
Technical Director, replacing Pa Dodou Sarr who is now appointed as the head of
the organizing committee.
The former head coach of the Gambia’s national beach volleyball team said “I am honored to be appointed as The GVBF’s technical director at such an exciting time for the game in this country.
“We are coming off the back of the most incredible years and I have nothing but respect for the outstanding work of Pa Dodou Sarr and all the coaches and the executive. “The challenge will be to continue the progress that has been made and I hope I can bring my experience to help Gambian teams continue on the right path.
“I am passionate about coaching, about helping Gambian players to be the best they can be, and also want to work closely with the clubs we have in this country Ceesay stated.
GVBF president Bai Dodou Jallow said: “We are pleased to confirm Alhagie Ceesay as the new technical director and believe he is the right person to continue to build on the clear signs of progression in volleyball in this country.
Ceesay’s experience in the game is unrivalled, so it is no surprise that he came through a thorough recruitment process as the outstanding candidate. “As well as working across the pathway and volleyball Education, it’s important we continue to develop strong relationships with the wider game for the benefit of Gambian volleyball, and Ceesay will be well placed to continue to strengthen those relationships.”
Alhagie Ceesay was the former Treasurer of Gambia Volleyball Federation from 2006 to 2010, a level two coaching license holder (highest in the Gambia), senior referee for more than 10 years, hold series of certificates on National refereeing and coaching courses, former head coach of national beach volleyball team and until his appointment he serve as the Auditor and Technical Assistant to national team coaches.
