Gambia national U-20 team yesterday departed Banjul for Monrovia, Liberia prior
to the beginning of the Fox Sport WAFU Zone A football tournament.
Coach Matarr Mboge travelled to Monrovia with twenty players for the weeklong Sub-regional football jamboree expected to bring together eight countries within the WAFU Zone A.
He and his young Scorpion charges will hold series of training sessions to prepare fit for their opening group B clash with Guinea Conakry on Wednesday.
The team defeated domestic division one league side Gambia Ports Authority 2-1 in a warm up game before their Monrovia departure. Captain Basiru Mbye and Vice-captain Saikou Touray were on target for the young Scorpions.
