Tuesday, May 08, 2018

Gambia National U-20 team will move to camp today at the FIFA Goal Project at Old Yundum prior to their 2019 Africa U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers at home to Benin this weekend.

The Young Scorpions will host the Young Squirrels in the first leg of the continent’s cadet biggest football fiesta qualifiers on Sunday 13 May at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Benin defeated Liberia in the preliminaries to reach the first round of the qualifiers.

Young Squirrels will fight for a positive result against the Young Scorpions in the first leg in Banjul on Sunday and hope to finish the job in the second leg in Cotonou.

The Young Scorpions will be hoping to replicate their WAFU Zone A football tournament performance against Benin in the first leg in Banjul on Sunday in order to increase their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the qualifiers.

It could be recalled that The Gambia missed qualification for the 2017 Africa U-20 Youth Championship hosted in Zambia, after losing to Guinea Conakry 2-1 on aggregate in the qualifiers.
