Gambia U-20 beats Benin in 1st leg of qualifiers

The Gambia national U-20 team yesterday defeated their West African counterparts, Benin, 2-1 in the first leg of the Africa U-20 qualifier at a well attended football encounter at the Independence Stadium, in Bakau.

The games attracted scores of football enthusiasts that were in attendance at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to cheer up the young Scorpion. 

The Gambia national under-20 team dominated proceedings and created some goal scoring chances.

The Gambia under U-20 then scored courtesy of magnificent striker Adama Jammeh in the 1st minute of the game after a run of play before sending a rocket strike that filed past the arms of the Benin’s goalkeeper Katchon Abiola Matinou.

Moments later, Basirou Mbye could have doubled the advantage, but his stunning strike was parried away by Benin’s net-minder, Katchon Abiola Matinou, in 17th minute of the game.

The Gambia U-20 team continues mounting pressure on visitors half.

Ebrima Colley doubled advantage for the young scorpions in the 34th minute from a brilliant free kick before Benin will pulled one back through Ogouldla Ibrahim Andreas.
