Gambia to participate in WAFU Zone A U-17 championship

Gambia will take part in the upcoming WAFU Zone A U-17 football championship slated for September 2018 in Senegal.

After U-20 team’s trail blazing success at the WAFU U-20 tournament in Liberia eventually been crowned undisputed Champions.

The Baby Scorpions under head Coach Abdoulie Bojang will begin training soon prior to the tournament in Senegalese cities of Dakar and Mbour.

Steve Biko coach Bojang who is also the National U-17 gaffer recently returned from a GNOC scholarship program in Hungary where he enhanced his Coaching credentials.

Lie was recommended by the GFF for the program and since his return from Budapest, has been busy putting up his team to also replicate the U-20 glory held in Liberia.

Screening of Sixty players provisionally selected from the domestic league would take effect from Monday 9 July to Tuesday 10 July in two badges before a final selection would take place at the end of next week.

Both screening exercises would take place at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum.

The winners in the WAFU tournament will form part of Qualified Nations for the Total Africa U-17 tournament to hold in Tanzania, 2019.
