Gambia to host Benin in AFCON qualifiers on Nov.17

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

Scorpions will host Benin national senior team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on 17 November at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Scorpions are languishing bottom-place in group D of the continent’s biggest football gala qualifiers with only 2 points after four group matches. They need to produce a miracle against Benin in their return leg fixture in Banjul to increase their Africa Cup of Nations qualification hopes.

The Scorpions hopes of qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is in limbo after losing at home to Togo 1-0 in the return leg qualifier played at the Independence Stadium fortnight ago.

Benin is occupying second place in group D of the continent’s bi-annual biggest football festivity qualifiers with 7 points after four matches.

The Squirrels will scuffle to complete a double over the Scorpions in Banjul to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year after defeating the Gambia 1-0 in the first leg in Cotonou last year.
