Gambia to compete at the 18th FINA World Swimming Championship in Gwangju

The Gambian Swimming team will join other African countries in the upcoming 18th FINA World Championship in Gwangju (Republic of Korea), according to a press release from the Gambia Swimming and Aquatic Sports Association (GSASA).

The world swimming championship will serve as one of the Olympic Games Qualifiers for Tokyo 2020.

According to the release, the championship will gather the world’s fastest swimmers from the 12th – 28th July 2019, with top-level showdown in a 50-meter Olympic size pool.

The national team comprises of three (3) athletes, two of which ( Momodou Lamin Saine & Ebrima Sorry Buaro) are currently on a scholarship at the FINA High Performance Center in Dakar, accompanied  by two (2) technical officials.

The team will leave Banjul on the 18th July to Gwangju, and return on the 29th July 2019 respectively.
