Gambia’s senior national football team will play a FIFA friendly international match against Central African Republic (CAR) on Saturday 24 March, at the Independence Stadium, as part of preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The fixture marks a welcome home return for the Scorpions, following their recent training camps and friendly matches abroad.

The Scorpions defeated Central African Republic 2-1 in an international friendly match played in March 2017 in Rabat, Morocco.

The match featured a dominant display from the Scorpions who won the match thanks to goals from striker Modou Barrow and winger Mustapha Carayol.

The Scorpions will continue their quest for an Africa Cup of Nations 2019 ticket in September 2018, when they host Algeria in their second group B fixture before playing against Togo and Benin.

They overcame Morocco’s 2018 CHAN team 2-1 in an international friendly in November 2017 courtesy of Scorpions defeated .

Fans will eagerly await the welcome return of the Scorpions squad, with many now featuring and excelling for different clubs following a busy transfer period.
