Gambia to appoint coach prior to AFCON qualifiers

Friday, June 29, 2018

The Gambia will appoint a coach for the country’s senior national team the Scorpions prior their crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at home to Algeria in September this year.

According to reliable sources reaching The Point Sports desk, football authorities will appoint a gaffer for the team before their decisive qualifier against the Desert Foxes.

The Scorpions are without a coach since Sang Ndong’s appointment as the technical director of the Gambia Football Federation in February this year.

The Gambia is currently occupying bottom-place in group D of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with zero point after losing to Benin 1-0 in their opening qualifiers in Cotonou last year.

The Scorpions must defeat Algeria to fancy their chances of making their debut in the continent’s biggest football fiesta after losing in their opening group D Fixture.
