The FC Gambian international defender, Bubacarr Sanneh alias ‘Timber’ has said the country should appoint a coach who can manage, recruit, develop and control players.

FC Midtjylland central defender was speaking in an interview with The Point Arfang M.S. Camara yesterday after his side claimed the 2017-2018 Danish Superliga title.

Sanneh said it does not matter to have a foreign or local coach, but what matters is to have a coach who can develop, control players and manage the senior national team.

He further said that the senior national team needs to find a coach as soon as possible, adding that early appointment of coach counts a lot in football, saying that preparation cannot start in the absence of a coach. “We the young players, many of us played together and we have known each other and I think we need to take national team seriously and behave like the way we play in our clubs.”

He added that anytime they come home to play, they need to feel the same way they respect their clubs.

According to him, every player feels proud and honoured to represent and wear its national team jersey, adding that early appointment of coaches help players and the team.

Sanneh urged his fellow payers and technical side to see each other as a family.

He stated that many Gambian players are performing well in their clubs such as Bubacarr Steve Trawally, Hamza Barry, Ali Sowe, Modou Barrow and Omar Colley. He pointed out that winning the Danish Championship means a lot to him, adding that winning the championship has boosted his career.

He added that he will continue to work hard prior to the new season in which they will be taking part in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

Sanneh featured for the Danish Champions FC Midtjylland to win their 2nd championship tournament, scoring seven goals as central defender last season.
