Gambia, Senegal Volleyball Federations reaches int’l tourney agreement

In efforts to strengthen bilateral relationship between The Gambia and Senegal and to develop the game of Volleyball, the two countries’ Volleyball Federations reached an agreement to organize an annual international volleyball tournament dubbed, “Senegambia Cup.’’

The agreement is aimed at solidifying the brotherly relationship between the two countries through the organization of youth and sport activities and to increase competitiveness of volleyball in the two countries.

According to the concept paper, the champions and vice champions of the National Championships of the two countries in both male and female categories will take part in the competition. Each category will have four clubs to compete. Two male and two female clubs from each country will participate in the championship.

The inaugural tournament will be held in The Gambia in September 2018 and Senegal will host it in 2019 and the first edition is dedicated to the two presidents of the respective nations.
