Gambia Scout Association last Thursday held their Annual General Meeting (AGM)
at the National Nutrition Agency in Bakau, where members reviewed their
constitution and financial statement. Members also elected new executive that
will run the affairs of the association for the next three years.
Deputy permanent secretary of the ministry of basic and secondary education, Adama Jimba Jobe said his ministry is mandated to be the provider of education for Gambian young people and majority of the association’s members are youth.
He said any movement or organisation that is out to help train young people on good values that can help to consolidate social cohesion in society should always be supported.
Mr. Jobe praised the Scout Association for their firm commitment to nurture discipline and respect in young people and to enable them to take the mantle of leadership in the country. “We need you to have respect and discipline.”
Alieu Momar Njie, chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), who was once a scout leader said a scout is always a scout and should always be discipline.
