Gambia resumes preparation to face Benin

Gambia National U-20 team has resumed preparations prior to their crucial 2019 Africa U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers second leg tie away to Benin on Sunday 20 May in Cotonou after their first leg triumph over the Young Squirrels in Banjul.

The Young Scorpions defeated Young Squirrels 2-1 in the first leg clash of the continent’s junior biggest football fray qualifiers played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau over the weekend.

Gambia Armed Forces prolific striker Adama Jammeh and Atlanta youngster Ebrima Colley were on target for The Gambia National U-20 team.

Coach Matarr Mboge and his charges will use the upcoming days to prepare themselves fit for their crunch second leg clash with the Young Squirrels this weekend after their slender 2-1 win over their fellow West Africans in the first leg.

The Gambia needs a draw against Benin on Sunday in Cotonou to advance to the second round following their hard-fought victory in the first leg over the weekend. Benin needs to beat The Gambia at least 1-0 in the second leg on Sunday in Cotonou on progress to the second round despite their first leg defeat to the Young Scorpions.
