Gambia’s Under 18 and 20 handball players are preparing to participate in the forthcoming 8-nation handball tournament to be hold in Nouakchott, Mauritania next month. The tournament will be staged from the 23rd to 30th March.

The country has already invited 48 players for pre-selection training sessions at the Independence Stadium from which 28 players will make the final cut for the tournament meant for U18 and U20 players.

Secretary General of The Gambia Handball Association Haruna Cham said his executive is working hard for the country to be well represented at both levels of the tournament. “The winner from this competition will earn an automatic qualification to the Junior World Championship in 2019.”

Cham appealed to companies and the sports ministry to support the team in the preparation, saying “The team will start training Tuesday evening and players have been invited from all the handball teams".
