Gambia must sign coach prior to AFCON qualifiers

Tuesday, April 03, 2018

The Gambia must sign a coach before their crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at home to Algeria in September this year. The Scorpions are without a coach since Sang Ndong’s appointment as the technical director of The Gambia Football Federation in February this year.

Youth and Sports ministry and the National Sports Council must strive to sign a new coach prior to the continent’s biggest football fray qualifiers against the Desert Foxes. The two leaders of the country’s sports must try and sign a coach for the gallant Scorpions.

Sang Ndong guided The Gambia to their recent international friendly match against Central Africa Republic that ended one apiece at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Scorpions are currently sitting bottom-place in group D of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with zero point after their 1-0 defeat to Benin in the opening day of the qualifiers.

The Gambia need to beat Algeria in September this year to fancy their hopes of qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon after several unsuccessful attempts to qualify for the continent’s biggest football festivity since its inception in 1957.
