Thursday, August 06, 2009

The Gambia has moved one place up to 98th in the monthly FIFA Coca-Cola world rankings released by the world football governing body on Wednesday August 5th 2009.

The Gambia was ranked 99th on the global standings in July and have now move a single place up to 98  Despite this development at global level the   Gambia still dropped one place down from 24th to 25th on the African stage.

The Gambia recently celebrated its highest ranked of 65th and 12th in the World and African stages respectively but were held by a major setback which could be linked with the lack of  international matches by the Scorpions since last October .

Côte d'Ivoire is still topping in Africa and followed by Cameroon. Brazil, Spain and the Netherlands  respectively top the global stages. The only changes it that Germany moved up to 4th position while Italy dropped to 5th.
