looms in Nigeria as they host the 2019 Africa senior men and women nations
beach Volleyball cup from April 21, through April 28 at the famous Jabi lake
park in Abuja.
Among the first countries to arrive in the Nigerian capital was The Gambia, who are gearing up for their maiden appearance at the continental championship. The Gambian teams under the tutelage of coach Pa Babucarr Barrow will be looking to make another continental history after missing the 2016 Olympic berth at the same spot.
Volleyball is among the disciplines lifting Gambia’s flag high on regional and continental stages. Although the sport is not so popular, but the country has been recognized as one of the fast growing countries in Africa. The Gambia men team is ranked 9th while the women is at 11th in Africa.
Gambia’s participation at the Abuja games is jointly funded by the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) and Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS).
The women team delegation include Abi Kujabie, Fatoumatta Ceesay and the men team include Amadou Jarju, Ebrima Jatta with Pa Babucarr Barrow as coach and Dembo Camara as head of delegation.
