Gambia holds first Fashion Awards Night

With a wide range of fashion activities throughout the year such as fashion runways and beauty pageants, The Gambia’s entertainment industry last weekend registered its first Fashion Awards Night.

The event, produced by retired model Yusuf Thullah, chief executive officer of Trace Thullah Entertainment, was designed to recognise individuals and stakeholders for their immense contribution to the country’s fashion industry.

The chilly evening’s event catered glitz, glamour and paparazzi, which attracted a full house of fans that came to witness the historic moment of their stars being awarded for what they do best.

Models, designers, modeling agencies, video vixens, fashion bloggers, actors, actresses, entrepreneurs and beauty pageant organisers were all awarded for their groundbreaking achievements within their domains.

Trace Thullah Entertainment’s CEO Thullah believed that he has reached the pinnacle of his modeling career and now desires to venture into new avenues by initiating the 1st edition of The Gambia Fashion Awards.

The event also witnessed amazing side attractions and thrilling performance by sibling stars-Kerr Gi Family and a hilarious comedy break from Bright Star Entertainment.

At the end of the night, 32 people were awarded including Phuzion by Margaux Tambedou, who was the most outstanding designer; Paja Designs took men wear designer of the year, Medoune by Medoune Gaye as women’s wear designer of the year, Sass Health and Beauty School by Adama Sass as hair stylist of the year, Ndey Ida [ Allure by Slim] as make-up Artist of the year, Tiga by Ndey Fatou Njie as accessory/ non clothing brand of the year, Muhammed Bah as the most outstanding male model, Sally Sanneh-Njie as the most outstanding female model.
