Gambia Health Foundation, based in the United Kingdom recently donated one
hundred bags of cement to Great Xavier Lower Basic School in Farato.
The Great Xavier Basic School is currently constructing of a four-classroom block in Farato Bojang Kunda.
In receiving the items, the proprietor of Great Xavier Lower Basic School in Farato, in Kombo South district of the West Coast Region, Simon Mendy, said the donation was a big boost for both the institution and the community of Farato.
He acknowledged the gesture, saying that the donation had come at the right time when the school’s foundation stone has been laid and constructions were ongoing.
Mr Mendy also spoke at length about the importance of education and the need for children to have access to education.
He said one of their aims is to ensure that children within their catchment community of Farato have access to education.
He thanked the director of Health Foundation, Rebecca Monaghan of UK, for the magnificent gesture, which he said, would go a long way towards lightening their burden.
He also thanked Sainey Manneh, a Rotarian for facilitating the gesture, while describing him as a patriotic Gambian who has the country at heart.
For his part, Sainey Manneh, a Gambian businessman, who doubles as a Rotarian, said his aim was to ensure that every child in the country has access to quality education.
He expressed readiness to support the school and advised the community, through the proprietor of the school to double their efforts in the construction of the school.
He assured them of his full support, through his international partner, as he commended the Director of the Gambia Health Foundation, based in the UK for the trust bestowed on him.
