Gambia has evaded the host nation Liberia in the draw for the 2018 WAFU Zone A
football tournament held in Monrovia recently.
The Young Scorpions have been paired with Senegal, Mali and Guinea Conakry in group B for the eight nation’s sub-regional football championship. Group A comprises the host nation Liberia, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau.
The tournament will run from April 24 to 7 May 2018 in Liberia and will feature U-20 national teams from WAFU Zone A countries.
Gambia defeated Liberia 1-0 in the first leg of the 2015 Africa U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers in Monrovia on 6 April 2014 but the Young Scorpions were disqualified from the continent’s cadet biggest fray qualifiers after they were found guilty of using five over aged players.
