Gambia crashes out of Africa U-20 Qualifiers

Gambia’s national U-20 team have fizzled out of the 2019 Africa U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers after slipping to Benin 2-0 in the second leg tie played in Cotonou on Sunday.

The Young Scorpions needed only a draw to advance to the second round of the qualifiers after beating the Young Squirrels 2-1 in the first leg played in Banjul.

Benin also needed to beat The Gambia at least 1-0 to progress to the second round of the qualifiers after losing to them 2-1 in the first leg in Banjul.

The Young Squirrels managed to notch in two goals in the game to make their conquest over the Young Scorpions certain, complete and comprehensive.

The victory earned Benin a place in the second round of the 2019 Africa U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers.
