The Gambia have arrived in Ghana for the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations, as the sub-regional biggest football fiesta kickoff is fast approaching.

The home-based Scorpions left Banjul on Monday with eighteen players and seven officials for the sub-regional football championship.

The Gambia will rub shoulders with the host Nation Ghana in the opening game on Saturday 9 September 2017 in Elmina.

The Gambia under the guidance of coach Omar Ceesay, assisted by Abdoulie Bojang held series of training sessions to prepare themselves fit enough for their opening clash with the Black Stars on Saturday to increase their chances of beating Ghana and progress to the group phase.

It would be recalled that The Gambia under the guidance of coach Omar Sise reached the 2015 WAFU Cup final against the host Senegal in Mbour, but were disqualified after failing to honour penalty shootout.
