Youth Chamber of Commerce (GYCC) will hold the sixth edition of their annual
Islamic conference and fast breaking this Saturday at President’s International
Awards in Bakau.
The annual religious gathering targets to reorient young people on current and most affected societal issues and challenges.
The theme of this year’s convergence will be: Reflection on youthful life of the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) to inspire present generation on community support, good governance, theft, drug and alcohol abuse.
Organisers say the event has been a good platform where religious scholars and elders are engaged into discussions that can inspire young people and change their mindset towards national development.
They said they believe that for youth to contribute meaningfully to social needs and societal development, there is need to change their mindset and train them with the right leadership attitude in societies.
“The current trend and way of life of our young people is very worrying, with the rising unemployment, high rate of criminal and rubbery and the loss of lives through irregular migration. All these have brought the need for civil society to engage religious leaders to re-orient our youth towards development,” GYCC chief executive officer Baboucarr Kebbeh said.
He said the objective of the convergence is to enable effective youth contribution in national development, create platform for exchange of knowledge on Islamic way of life, and motivate youth to adopt relevant behaviors and to contribute to the reduction of alcohol and substance abuse.
