GAF beats Brikama Utd in late Omar Sey tournament

Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Tuesday defeated 2019 league champions Brikama United 1-0 in opening group A match of the Late Alhagie Omar Sey Football tournament played at the Brikama Box-Ba Mini-stadium.

Omar Sawaneh scored the only goal of the game for the Soldiers to revenge from their defeat by Brikama United during the final fixtures of the division one league which Brikama United won 2-1 to clinch the league title.

Elsewhere in the other group A game played yesterday, Manjai-based team Marimo defeated Gamtel FC 2-0 in a game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The tournament is conceived by the GFF Executive Committee to remember the Late Alhagie Omar Sey who is credited for creating and baby-sitting Gambia’s participation in major international sports events.

He was a leading member of the African Football Confederation (CAF). At the time of going to press yesterday in the group B encounters, Fortune FC were playing against Gambia Ports Authority in Brikama Box-Ba, while FF Cup champions Real de Banjul were also entertaining Hawks FC.
