Military Police of The Gambia Army Forces (GAF) have arrested six soldiers from
Fajara Barrack, The Point has been informed.
A source who is familiar with the development and spoke to The Point on the condition of anonymity has stated that all the six soldiers were stationed at Gunjur.
“Two other soldiers have absconded and left their rifles at their duty post,” our source added.
Recall: The Gambia Armed Forces deployed soldiers at Gunjur following a clash between Gunjur and Berending that led to the death of one Buba Jammeh, former staff of Brikama Area Council (BAC). However, the reason for the arrest of the six soldiers is yet to be known.
The arrested soldiers are currently under the detention of the Military Police as investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the GAF, Major Lamin K. Sanyang, has confirmed the development to our reporter. “At the moment, I can’t tell you the circumstance leading to the arrest of the six soldiers. What is clear is that they are under the custody of the military police. The matter is under investigation. We will update you after the completion of our investigation,” he told The Point.
