Cement Enterprise Material on Monday celebrated Global World Concern for
workers and customers on the theme,“Safety is our collective responsibility.”
GACEM Health and Safety, in partnership with Heidelberg Cement Group in Germany embarked on a weeklong discussion on health and safety in homes and workplaces.
Delivering his statement at the event, GACEM’s general manager, Herve K. Mansah, said GACEM health and safety week was dedicated to engaging employees in a variety of activities, training and other events, designed to intensify awareness relating to workplace safety and health issues; and also reinforce the vision of eliminating work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses.
He emphasized that their business plans was critical for GACEM to be a safe and responsible company. “It is our obligation to our employees, our customers and the communities where we do business,” he said.
‘Our safety performance is a key part of our licence to operate at our plant location and a strong safety culture helps us attract, develop and retain top talent throughout the company,” he stated.
For his part, Sheriff Colley, logistic and public relations officer of GACEM in a brief statement outlined the activities of the enterprise, saying that GACEM was established in 1996, and the company was introduced into the country by Amadou Samba, who later partnered with Heidelberg.
Colley explained that GACEM is the leading industry and the largest supplier of cement.
Health and safety manager, Gibril Fofana, disclosed that the group has 6,600 plants around the globe, saying the group came up with the initiative to motivate every member and worker.
He stressed that workers and customers’ safety was one of their number one priorities.
