The trial involving one Vensian Andren, a French national residing at Lamin Loge, Monday failed to proceed at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecuting police officer, Sub Inspector Gibba, told the court that the defence counsel, Foster, was in court in the morning, but said they could proceed with the matter because he had another matter at another court.

He further told the court that the French interpreter was also in court in the morning, but he also left.

Consequently, he applied for the matter to be adjourned.

At that juncture, the matter was adjourned until 16 February 2016.

It would be recalled that the accused, Vensian Andren, was alleged to have on 1 January 2016 at Lamin village, in the Kombo North district of the West Coast Region, willfully and unlawfully assaulted one Jacques Michael Albert Jonbert, also a French national, by hitting her on the head, and thereby committed an offence.
