Ambassador to Senegal said his government would be willing to support any
tangible education project proposal from the government of The Gambia.
Overseeing The Gambia from Senegal, Ambassador Bigot said some French officials would be returning to The Gambia for the second time to continue discussions with the country’s education ministry for a possible partnership.
Speaking to the Point’s Pa Modou Cham at Alliance Française in Banjul, Mr. Bigot said, “We will be happy to welcome Gambian students in French universities. We are looking for ways to conduct selection processes here in The Gambia, just as the way we do it in Senegal to promote studies in France.”
He said The Gambia is moving fast, saying the country was facing financial, security and power problems but it is recovering from and democracy is very much alive.
“We will continue to support The Gambia either bilaterally or through our European partners; the World Bank or African Development Bank.”
