Evan have recently donated medical equipment to Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Care
The equipment includes five slit lamps, bulbs and frames and are worth over 400, 000 dalasis. They were presented at the SZREC facility in Kanifing.
Officer in-charge of FOTGA Modou Camara said they have been very supportive to Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Care Center and the National Eye Health Center, saying “We have been sponsoring series of cataract operations and the most recent one was around the month of July.”
Sarjo Kanyi, programme manager of National Eye Health Programme said their relationship with FOTGA dated back in 2014 through one of their colleagues Alhagie Camara who, he said is a cataract surgeon in the United Kingdom. “Through his initiative, he was able to link us with the Friends of The Gambia Association. Since 2014, we have been sponsoring the eye care center and providing free surgery for needy Gambians.”
Alasan Tourary of Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Center said FOTGA has been constantly providing them with medical equipment, which has been very useful to the center in their health care delivery.
