The interim leader of the opposition Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has stated that foreign powers cannot ensure security in our country, arguing that they always have their interest.

“Only Gambians can ensure that our sovereignty is protected and our security is guaranteed. The government should empower Gambians and trains them with a view to enable them take over the reins of securing our country at all cost.”

The APRC leader was speaking on Saturday during a press conference held at his Tallinding residence. “You go to Bwiam and find ECOMIG there taking logs from people and packing them in an independent country like The Gambia.”

The APRC party, he said, has brought unprecedented development in the country in all aspect of development. “Job creation has become a problem now and frustrated youths are coming back in the country thus what we expect is high rate of crime.”

The former President, he went on, has given tractors to youths and women in the country. “When the coalition government came into power, they went round the country and took all the tractors from poor farmers and packed them in the compounds of chiefs,” he posited.

He acknowledged that recently there has been an improvement in the supply of electricity in the country, but suggesting that in order for electricity crisis to be solved, we must have medium and short time plans.

“All what Gambians want is to ensure that there is effective service delivery that will enhance their livelihoods.”
