For Falsely Receiving Money, Man Arraigned in Court

One Modou Njie was on the 30thDecember arraigned before Magistrate Sagarr Jahateh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court for receiving a total of D58, 000 from different people with promise to take them to Spain, a representation, which was false. He pleaded not guilty.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused Modou Njie on or about the 4thOctober 2008, at Serrekunda obtained unlawfully D17, 000 from one Ansu Touray, D14, 000 from Nfamara Jatta, D10, 000 from Ebrima Gassama, D17, 000 from Lamin Congira.

He was granted bail in the sum of D50, 000 with an affidavit of means and a Gambian surety who must deposit his ID card with the Assistant Registrar.

The case was adjourned to the 19thJanuary 2009 for hearing.
