First Lady of the Republic, Fatou Bah-Barrow through her foundation on Thursday
extended her magnanimity with a surprise presentation of food items to women at
the Denton Bridge.
The items, which included bags of rice, sugar, gallons of oil and cartons of dates, are part of her foundation’s quest to put smiles on the faces of those who struggle to make ends meet and their families.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Betty Saine of Fatoumata Bah Barrow Foundation, said the move was in line with the foundation’s core values of empowering women and children.
“We are here today to not only extend support but to also appreciate your efforts. The First Lady always passes here [Denton Bridge] and knows that you are hard-working women. Women are instrumental in homes, communities and the country at large and this is all the more reason the First Lady always have your interest at heart,” she stated.
The beneficiaries, who included Mariama Colley and Jainaba Ceesay, all expressed delight in receiving gifts, saying they were well aware and convinced that the President and his family have the interest of Gambian women at heart.
The duo while thanking the First Lady for coming to them, noted that they know the president and his family have the interest of Gambians at heart.
Both assured that the items would be of immense benefits to their families and thanked the First Lady and her husband for the foresight.
