First Lady joins Gambians to cheer-up Scorpions

Gambia’s First Lady Fatou Bah-Barrow was among the crowd that stormed the Independence Stadium on Friday to cheer-up the country’s national team Scorpions in their friendly game against Central African Republic.

Madam Bah-Barrow appeared at the stadium wearing the Scorpions jersey; the team played out a 1-1 draw with Central Africa in an international friendly. The Scorpions have not played at home for nearly two years. Friday game ended the long wait by fans to watch their darling Scorpions.

The First Lady wore her Gambian Jersey and Cap bearing the name “Gambia”. Her presence to watch the game was described by many as a morale booster for the boys.

She was seen celebrating when Assan Ceesay gave The Gambia the lead in the second half. She stood up, waving the Gambian flag, much to the delight of those at the VIP section.

The Gambia Football Federation General Secretary Lamin Jassey took to the social media to thank Madam Fatou Bah-Barrow for coming to watch the game. Mr.Jassey also thanked Gambians for turning in numbers to cheer the boys.
